This year, the city has welcomed a whole host of new eateries and bars popping up all over the city, affirming its label as a foodie/culinary destination.
It has so much to offer the influx of people moving into the city centre. From a huge basement Chinese restaurant, an Oyster bar owned by a Michelin starred chef, to a spot of fine dining along the waterside, two new gourmet pizza places and more – a tantalising mix to suit all!
Oyster Club - Fish frenzy
The second restaurant from no other than the renowned Michelin-starred chef Adam Stokes, an oyster bar and seafood restaurant. Exquisite cuisine, exuberating class, style and a high-end feel, yet still relaxed – as expected from any restaurant owned by Adam. Located on Temple Street, an area quickly becoming the restaurant district.
Expect freshly sourced fish from all over the UK, the menu encompasses simple dishes, spectacularly delivered, with taste sensations guaranteed for fish lovers.
Did anyone say pizza?
You’ll definitely will fancy devouring a slice of pizza from one of these new pizza restaurants.
Franco Manca, the sourdough pizza pioneers are a hugely popular pizza restaurant chain from London. What is particularly unique about these melt in your mouth pizzas, is the slow-rising sourdough which is made daily on-site.
Also, expect seriously good pizza from Rudy’s opening on Bennetts Hill this summer, serving traditional Neapolitan pizza that takes just 60 seconds to cook.
Flight Club – Something a little different
There is a lot of hype surrounding the trendy new 'Social Darts' experience, originating from London. Flight Club is based in the heart of the city on Temple Street. Wacky décor, with a Victorian vibe and whole range of different games to play. Other quirky additions include cocktails in trophies, alcoholic slushies and pizza galore - what more could you want?
Waterside dining – Restaurant in a park
If you fancy escaping the hustle and bustle of the city centre, everyone’s talking about The Bracebridge, in the heart of Sutton Park. A transformation of the old Boathouse, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with a finer dining experience in the evening, all with a stunning view.
Noel’s bar and restaurant – Italy meets the Birmingham canal-side
The latest addition to Birmingham’s thrilling food scene takes residency by the canal close to The Cube. Expected to open later this year, a well-known Indian brand is setting up on the brand new £700 million Paradise development, paying homage to the Irani cafes and the food of Bombay. Poli anyone?
A new laidback establishment on York Road in Kings Heath. From the team that brought you the popular wine bar, Grace & James. Poli serves wood-fired pizzas, small plates, snacks and dips, craft beer and natural wine. Desserts come in the form of ice cream sandwiches from Happy Endings - by any standard this is good food!
Gino D’Acampo – My restaurant
Celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo is set to open his first restaurant next to The Ivy on Temple Row, offering all-day casual dining. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. This highly anticipated restaurant is also expected to contain a prosecco bar, deli and a traditional Italian ice-cream bar.

A new Lebanese restaurant opening in Grand Central, bringing the authentic flavours of Beirut to Birmingham! Serving up a range of dishes including traditional Middle Eastern mezze, steak wraps and kebabs of course!
